60's Vintage for your wardrobe?

With the popularity of AMC's Mad Men, now is the perfect time to add some 60s vintage va-va-voom to your wardrobe. This particular decade of fashion is unrivaled in terms of creativity and innovation. Some of the 60s designers that have influenced today's fashion trends are Pierre Cardin, Oleg Cassini, Mary Quant, Courreges, Rudi Gernreich and Betsey Johnson. In 2012, designers such as Michael Kors, Prada and Louis Vuitton have all included pieces from the 60s in their recent runway collections. 60s style was all about the changing social climate at the time. The fashion of the period took cues from icons such as Princess Grace and (especially) First Lady Jackie Kennedy. She set trends while wearing sheaths, pillbox hats and Capri pants. By the mid-60s everything was mod. There were trousers suits, tapered shirts and pants, mini skirts, plastic tent dresses and go-go boots. Finally, the hippie movement took over and bell-bottomed pants, batik prints, peasant blouses and lounging pajamas reigned supreme.
